No, it is not a bordello. In the Middle Ages it was common for a the lady of the house to make beer for the family. Beer, with its low alcohol content (distilled liquor didn’t become widely available until the 1700’s), was less susceptible to bacterial infestation and thus, a better alternative to the poor quality water available. Now, back in the day, even beer wouldn’t keep very long. Often, a batch of beer would come up and neighbors would need to be invited over to drink it up before it turned. Soon, the one’s who made the good beer were inviting neighbors over a whole lot. It wasn’t long before some enterprising soul would figured out that they could set up the living room with a bar, charge a small fee for the beer, and do this all the time! The public house was born. Shortened to simply a “pub” over time, it became the place where people came to get the latest news, gossip, and just blow off steam after a hard day.
Louie’s Public House is a destination where a person can have a damn good meal, an ice cold beer or cocktail, and a chill atmosphere to connect with other humans. Depending on the time, you may get a competitive game of cribbage or a live band... just never know.
Well, at times. The slaw is. The noodle bowl and soups frequently are (depends on the noodle we use). The smoker specials usually are.
Most of the appetizers are vegetarian and we do offer a veggie pizza option. There may be a secret menu with a rockin grilled cheese that is both vegetarian and exceptional!
No. For the love of god, just stop. We smoke large slabs of beef and masses of chicken legs weekly for crying out loud.
Three.
1. Don’t be an asshole
2. If you are informed that you are being an asshole, reconsider your actions and motivations.
3. If you find yourself telling lots of people they are assholes, you are the asshole. See rules 1 and 2.
Make that four.
4. Don’t touch the motorcycles. Looking is fine.
What? Why would there be a secret menu? That is dishonest and misleading. We would never have a secret menu. The very idea is…BENEATH us…
